Maximum Current Rating
DCBD Double: High-current DC Disconnector for very high current Laminated Busbar Systems
The DCBD Double is G Corner's high-current DC disconnector for very high current applications, covering ratings from 84 kA to 168 kA through a double-unit configuration. With solid silver contacts, patented fixed carriers, and a visible open gap, it provides reliable off-load isolation and operator confidence at the highest current levels in the DCBD range.
Product Description
The DCBD Double is a high-current DC disconnector rated from 84 kA to 168 kA at up to 1,500 Vdc, designed for off-load isolation in busbar and rectifier installations where single-unit current ratings are not sufficient. The double-unit configuration allows the DCBD range to extend to the very high current levels required in large-scale refining operations, while retaining the same construction principles, materials, and performance characteristics as the DCBD Single.
The moving contacts engage directly with patented fixed carriers attached to the busbar plates, creating a clearly visible open gap when in the isolated position. This gives operators immediate visual confirmation that the circuit is de-energised before any maintenance work begins. Contacts are manufactured from solid silver, providing excellent conductivity and resistance to surface degradation in industrial environments. Busbar plates are available in copper or aluminium and can be connected to the busbar system by bolted or welded joints.
The DCBD Double is electrically actuated as standard and is designed for horizontal mounting. It includes deformability in all three axes as standard, allowing the disconnector to absorb the thermal expansion and contraction of the busbar system over its operational life. Higher deformability options are also available.
All G Corner products are engineered to the specific requirements of each application. The DCBD Double represents what we can achieve for very high current disconnection on laminated busbar systems - the exact configuration, current rating, and options will be developed with you to suit your installation.

Use cases
Typical Applications
Providing safe and reliable isolation of very high current circuits before maintenance work begins. The DCBD Double's visible open gap gives operators immediate confirmation that the circuit is de-energised, supporting safe working practices and compliance with isolation procedures at the highest current levels found in large-scale refining operations.
