Maximum Current Rating
DCBD Compact: High-current DC Disconnector for Laminated Busbar Systems
The DCBD Compact is G Corner's high-current DC disconnector designed for direct connection to laminated busbar systems. With solid silver contacts, patented fixed carriers, and a visible open gap, it is built to withstand the mechanical and thermal demands of heavy-duty refining installations while giving operators immediate confidence that a circuit is isolated.
Product Description
The DCBD Compact is a high-current DC disconnector rated from 12 kA to 42 kA at up to 1,500 Vdc, designed for off-load isolation in busbar and rectifier installations. The moving contacts engage directly with patented fixed carriers attached to the busbar plates, creating a clearly visible open gap when in the isolated position. This gives operators immediate visual confirmation that the circuit is de-energised before any maintenance work begins.
Contacts are manufactured from solid silver, providing excellent conductivity and resistance to the oxidation and surface degradation that can affect less resistant contact materials in industrial environments. Busbar plates are available in copper or aluminium and can be connected to the busbar system by bolted or welded joints, depending on the requirements of the installation.
The DCBD Compact is electrically actuated as standard and is designed for horizontal mounting. It includes deformability in all three axes as standard, allowing the disconnector to absorb the thermal expansion and contraction of the busbar system over its operational life without requiring additional flexible busbars at the connection point. Higher deformability options are also available.
All G Corner products are engineered to the specific requirements of each application. The DCBD Compact represents what we can achieve for compact high-current disconnection on laminated busbar systems - the exact configuration, current rating, and options will be developed with you to suit your installation.

Use cases
Typical Applications
Providing safe and reliable isolation of a circuit or section of plant before maintenance work begins. The DCBD Compact's visible open gap gives operators immediate confirmation that the circuit is de-energised, supporting safe working practices and compliance with isolation procedures. Its compact form factor makes it well suited to installations where space on or adjacent to the busbar is limited.
